DEPARTMENT OF

Combined Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Pharmacy

Program Requirements

Students are required to follow the prescribed Combined Degree Program curriculum and are expected to maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (B) in all course work and a minimum grade of B in each of the science and mathematics courses required in the Rutgers Pre-Professional curriculum (General Biology I & II, General Chemistry 1 & II, Organic Chemistry I & II, Physics I, Calculus I, and Statistics I).

Summer enrichment in coursework or research in biomedical problems is recommended. Summer externships in study or research at Montclair State or Rutgers will be made available each year depending on availability of funds. Summer or part-time employment in a retail pharmacy setting is also recommended.

Prior to matriculation at Rutgers, students must have completed the specialized science coursework required for their major, the basic science coursework of the Rutgers Pre-Professional curriculum (see above), and their General Education requirements. Transfer credit for the courses completed during the first (Professional) year at Rutgers will be applied towards the Montclair State baccalaureate.

To ensure that all baccalaureate degree requirements are satisfied, any recommendations concerning a change in a student's Major Program must have the approval of the Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics at Montclair State.
