Master of Arts in Environmental Studies
The Master of Arts in Environmental Studies is designed to train professionals for a wide variety of careers related to the environment. The program is applied in scope; providing students with a firm theoretical foundation, an enhanced capacity for analytical thinking and experience with real-world problem solving.

Four tracks in the Environmental Studies Program provide students the opportunity to specialize in a sub-discipline of their choice. Each track has a core of required courses that are then supplemented by a list of elective courses that allows students to design their program to fit their career needs and interests.

The Masters of Arts degree in Environmental Studies offers concentrations in Environmental Education, Environmental Management, and Environmental Science. Environmental Education serves the needs of teachers; Environmental Health serves the need of health professionals; Environmental Management serves government and business leaders; and Environmental Science serves industry. The facilities of New Jersey School of Conservation, operated by the University at Stokes Forest, are available as an additional resource for the study of the natural environment.

Master of Science in Geoscience
The Graduate programs in Geoscience are designed to enable the student to pursue further study in the various areas of the Department for professional or personal reasons, to further his or her preparation for the teaching profession, or for a career requiring advanced training.

For the arts and science students, a graduate program is designed to give opportunity for in-depth study in the broad field of Geoscience (geology). The program provides sufficient flexibility through electives so that emphasis in (1) environmental geology, (2) metamorphic and igneous geology, (3) sedimentology, stratigraphy, and paleobiology or (4) oceanography and marine geology is possible. Most od the courses for the oceanography and marine geology emphasis will be taken at the various sites of the New Jersey Maine Science Consortium during the summer.
