
The criteria for selection into the MARC U-STAR Program is that students must have completed 59 credits (junior status). Furthermore, new MARC students must have two years (four semesters) remaining prior to graduation, and will begin in the summer preceding their junior year.
Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be majoring in the biomedical sciences (Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Molecular Biology, Mathematical Sciences, Computer Sciences, or Earth and Environmental Studies) or behavioral sciences (Psychology). The students must also be from ethnic groups that are underrepresented in these sciences nationally: African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans or citizens of the U.S. Pacific Islands. In addition, the students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Students who are accepted into the MARC U-STAR Program must maintain a 3.0 GPA in their major throughout their tenure in the program.
