Combined BS - MS Program
Program Effective: Fall 2008
The Department of Mathematical Sciences will offer two combined 5-year BS-MS programs. Applications are being accepted starting now. A Master’s degree in Statistics and either a BS in Mathematics or a a BS in Mathematics with a concentration in Statistics will be awarded upon successful completion of a combined program.
These programs are designed:
- To provide motivated undergraduates with an opportunity to complete both degrees in an accelerated five-year timeframe.
- To provide students with a rigorous educational experience that will be an invaluable asset to their careers. Undergraduate majors graduating with an MS in Statistics and a research experience have a significant advantage in securing a position in industry and are also better prepared for doctoral work.
Admission requirements
A student must have completed STAT 330 (formerly STAT 440) at Montclair State, have a GPA of 3.0 in Mathematics by the end of the junior year, and not have received a BS in Mathematics. An application together with a letter of recommendation from a Statistics professor should be submitted by mid-May.
